Closet Core Jo dress and jumpsuit

Jo from Closet Core is a statement dress and jumpsuit pattern with a V-necked bodice and sculptural “croissant” sleeves. Its bias-bound slot seam finish adds structure and dimension for an engaging sew with a bold result.

Pattern options

• View A: a dress with a midi-length, straight-cut skirt, front darts, a bias-bound centre slit and curved front pockets.
• View B: a jumpsuit with tapered legs, front darts and curved front pockets.
• Choose large, exaggerated rounded cut-on sleeves or smaller sleeves for a less dramatic silhouette.
• Both bodices have front darts and an elasticated back waist, with a slot seam finish at the neckline and outer sleeve seams.
• Both views use a traditional zip with a fabric zip pull for easy dressing.

Recommended fabrics

Stable midweight wovens such as linen, cotton broadcloth, poplin, sateen, ikat and chambray provide stability and structure. Lightweight denim and twill may also be used if they have some drape.

Bias binding requirements

• Double-fold bias tape: 1/2in (13mm) wide.
• View A: 7yd (6.5m).
• View B: 5yd (4.5m).
• If making your own bias tape, add 1/2yd (0.5m) of 58in (1.5m)-wide fabric or 3/4yd (0.7m) of 45in (1.15m)-wide fabric. You will also need a 1in (25mm) bias tape maker.
